  1. It don't matter. You people will vote the same dam people in anyways. Then you's will bitch about it and will only have youselves to blame for it.

You all say there needs to be new chief and council but yous never do anything about it except vote the same people in.

  2. Wow. Depending upon who you are, it takes courage to sign your real name here, and while l appreciate that people want their voices heard in this forum, l have a hard time when anonymous people try to beat each other with words. We can build more courage (and honesty) if we can support each other, and this can lead to change.

Each Band member of voting age gets to cast a ballot if he/she chooses. Every election we (includes me) say "Lets vote smartly" or something similar, but it appears to be true that its hard to beat the bigger families, or the popular ones, or the ones who promise money (read Trust Fund). I think its gonna take a crisis to wake people up to the bigger picture, the bigger responsibility of looking ahead. Until that happens, people will vote for "the person who can give me money, a job, a house, whatever material item is desired," cuz that is the new value the Casino and the current leadership style promote. And that is why our reserve is in the state that it is.

I still beleive there is opportunity for Band members to operate small businesses (if there was affordable space available) and capture some of the casino traffic (remember that promise many moons ago?). I hope this election brings change that will benefit the community rather than a select group of people and their families.

    1. Tracey,I agree with you on the Anonymous. When I posted my concerns about this in the past, I got shot down for it. It really bothers me that those won't say who they are. Like I said before, we have no way of knowing who they are and where they are from. There are to man excuses as to why they post as Anonymous.

  3. The Anonymous is likely the ones who dont''t want to see a change for the better. There, people here that think its just fine they have a job and don't care about the future. So i guess they don't care what's going to happen down the road for the next generation. They don't care about the state of our community is in.Most likely the Anonymous is family of the C&C. cheryle snache

  4. The crisis has been here for a while now, due to C&C spending and hiring of high paid directors/managers/policy makers. Why do they need these high paid people when they themselves are micro-managing? People are losing jobs, there's no economic development, yet there's a General Manager in Economic Development. Wages are high and morale is low. There should be no need for a food bank!! I think that people don't go to the meetings because they feel there's no hope because C&C do what they want. It seems that people have accepted that things will never change or fear that if they "rock the boat" they will get "restructured" out of their job, and that's sad. We need to vote in people who are willing to work towards and offer hope and change and are open, sincere, operate from the heart and want our people to flourish and grow, not politicians! The current C&C operate our reserve on an extremely high budget and take too much for themselves. Their wages and perks alone are way to extreme. Anyone who's running for the next term coming up that support real economic development and pay cuts for themselves will get my vote. Remember when Chief Sharon said she'd take a 25% pay cut last election and ended up only taking a 10%? I grew up on the rez and yes, I am posting anonymously, not because I want to butt heads with anyone, not because I am in C&C's family, because I am not, but because I fear I will lose my job because I'm nobody in C&C's organization. Sad but true.

  5. Here is the first EASY baby step for change: Don't re-elect anyone currently holding a Councillor or Chief position. If everyone is serious about wanting change well that is a beginning.

  6. Let's hope, for the sake of our community, that there are enough people who think this way.
