  1. Good article.

    I would add this:

If you want to see positive change in community, you might want to consider these points:

Stop blaming PEOPLE and start criticizing the SYSTEMS and APPROACHES being used. For example:

    1. Stop polarizing people i.e. leadership vs. people. This will lead to nowhere fast. This is a SYMPTOM of an underlying cause. The real cause is not the leaders, but the bureaucratic systems (policies and procedures) that they believe will bring a positive result. This approach will only alienate people from one another and DESTROY good relations all around. Everyone is guilty of this. Me too.

    2. Start valuing RELATIONSHIP instead of CONTROL. Policies that suppress and frustrate people will only be met with passive or overt resistance. Believe it. I know C & C's intent is to gather good legal counsel and try and make good policies, BUT these "fixes" will FAIL. Why? Because POLICY MAKING IN AND OF ITSELF is based on the underlying assumption that PEOPLE NEED TO BE RULED because they can't conduct themselves with wisdom. We live in a legal jargon infested bureaucracy. End it. How you ask? Read on..

    3. Make decisions for yourselves. STOP paying huge legal fees and consultant fees and start looking to the elders, and students, youth and parents who have expertise and wisdom. This collective wisdom is worth more than ANY lawyer or consultant.

So, the first step is STOP focusing on SALARIES and FOCUS on STOPPING THE TRANSFER OF MONEY TO LEGAL FIRMS AND CONSULTANTS.

    THEN

STEP UP AND START MAKING THE DECISIONS AS A COLLECTIVE.

DON'T FIGHT EACH OTHER-CHANGE THE SYSTEM.

Stop spending $ on the wrong people, with the wrong advice, which will only create the worst possible future.

It's your community , your destiny, so stop asking others what the best way to do it is. Stop blaming each other for how things are. Trust your own people first. As a collective, you already know the answers.

    Do it.
