FINANCE MEETING

I have had a few members talk about the Finance meeting the other night, Which gave no new info. When they talk about the money they just think about the 35%, And that  WAS millions , Be sides the 35% there still and is other money from INCA the trust, some of the business. Millions over the years have been spent. on failed ventures and that's not are fault . The blame goes to the people that have been elected since the Casino got here.  Why would the CFO get paid $244,970 and the Band Manager $ 169,034  are there jobs not to manager are money?  The business are costing us millions and  all on running in the red except for 2 and they thing this is good because people have jobs. What do you think?  This is insane to me or maybe its just me. They may have a new deal but i still don't think that the casino will be here for 20 or 30 years. The government does,nt care about us and never have . OLG is going to be looking for operators for the Casino and the Chief said they were going to put in a bid maybe with a partner. Good luck with that one Hope the partner has money as we don't. I still don't no whats happening with the trust. Some one fill me in... 48% of the$ 38 million budget is wages wow for such a small community doesn't leave much for any thing else .. But one good thing we have $250 million in collateral  like buildings equipment ..... so who do you sell the buildings to? and a lot of that equipment is just doing noting.No new houses and no development in the works.  And the rich get richer.

    So where do we start by electing a new chief and the rest of the gang...then there needs a committe of band members to watch over those elected as for pay grade C&C needs cut to under 75,000. a year, band manager to maybe 50,000 a year . start helping the little guy....just saying

    Just out of curiosity at election time is it against the law to send out information pamphlets filled with information regarding the current Chief and Council's wrong doings to off reserve band members? I think if off reserve members understood more how Chief and Council are the culprits of outrageous, unnecessary spending of RAMA'S money which has put us in the HOLE, people would think twice about voting them in again. Unless some people don't mind that they basically wipe their asses with hundred dollar bills then flush it down the toilet.

    I was pleased to see a few new faces at the finance meeting, and l was pleased that questions were asked by more than the same few people who generally ask the questions/trying to hold the C&C accountable and transparent.

    The meeting was the same old, same old, meaning high salaries and perks, businesses still losing our money and no ec dev in sight.

    My ears heard that Rama may submit a bid to operate the Casino. I asked why would we do that when the businesses we have do not make money? I dont recall the answer - l was too stunned with the idea. The Chief went on to say that we were safe for the next 20 years as the OLG was investing in improvements to Casino Rama and we would see changes soon, one of which is this parking lot that they dont want to answer questions about (l mean one of the secretaries did reply, but the questions werent answered, so we sent another email and still no answer).

    My ears also heard that the Christmas Distribution is not guaranteed beyond 2014. This is tied to the new Casino deal, the one where the Chief said it was a guaranteed $30 Million annually and guaranteed the Christmas distribution. Neither are true.

    The Council members spent a lot of time looking down at the table they sat at during this meeting, particularly when questions about salaries and perks came up. I did say that while l agree that everyone needs some money to live, l couldnt understand why they needed that much money...

    We didnt get a report on the Health Centre of Excellence because the CFO forgot to prepare it. He tried to say it was just over 1 Million in cost, but l recall at a previous meeting the costs were closer to 2 Million...

    At the end of the meeting, the Chief said something about members contacting Chief and Council if you have other questions. I wondered why is she saying that? You know, cuz they dont answer questions, which is disrespectful to the members. Anyway, the next time she says it, lm going to ask her why she's saying that when she knows they dont respond.

    I sure hope people vote in the best interest of Rama as a whole, and not for any of this group, cuz, imo, they dont give a damn about Rama, just their pockets.

    How come Chief and council don't send out a financial report to eack band member. They should do this, why because some members don't want to go and listen to the bull. Plus there is members that live off the First Nation, that cannot make it to a meeting. They say that they have an open door policy, but they don't. They answer in around about way that they never give out to much info, or they answer with saying one thing, then when it comes out it is different altogether. Some one that went to the meeting said they get a $500.00 dollar clothes allowance. Boy I wish I had that much to buy clothes. Why would they want to run the casino, why they cannot even look after the First Nation.

    If you choose not to goto the meeting because you don't want to, thats your choice. The opportunity is givin so you can get the information. Jeez, now you want Rama to spend all that money to mail you something.....thats bull shit. Goto the meeting when its scheduled and you can then ask your questions. WTF is wrong with some people.

      I would go if I could. But they could also email the stuff. You must live in Rama. What if the person is in another part of Canada. Do you go to every meeting

      They don't answer the questions, that's the problem. They blew millions on bad choices and investments, so what, they can't donate one months' of let's say, clothing allowance and send out some meeting minutes to band members? And come to think of it, all of their combined clothing allowances for ONE month could feed four families for a month..if you wanna look at it from a different perspective. And did you ever think Anonymous that maybe some people can't make it to the meetings because unlike our chief and councillors we don't make millions off of other people's money or have the luxury of gas allowances either? They squandered away millions of RAMA'S money and you ask WTF is wrong with some band members, gimme a break. We're being lead by a bunch who don't care if our canoes sink so long as theirs keep going, and I say WTF is wrong with that.

    The Bill C-27 First Nations Financial Transparency Act,Please check this out. First nations will have to give copies of all Financial information to members when it is asked for.Under the Indian Act you have the right to no there wages, perks, travel money bonuses etc. if they don't give it to you you can complain to Indian Affairs .

    I agree with the member that stated about the person with a mouth that runs over that person must be on council ,or a wife or husband of one , just the little members wouldn't speak that way...also some people are educated fools or no education....what about the elders and disable, the ones that live else where and the ones that do work not drive around like some councilors do all day....just watch what you say karma bite you in ass there....

    We have been trying for years to get copies of the financials given to us, they won,t .The finance meetings to not show all i want to see where every penny is going i want to see receipts when i ask for them . We are the share holders after all.

      You People bitch and complain all the time about those in Council. The same old bitching every election and yet, you's all vote the same ones in. YOu have only yourelves to blame.

      YOU ALL VOTE THE SAME PEOPLE IN EVERY YEAR.

      The amount of work your councillors actually do, don't justify being full time, especially for a small community like Rama. They should be part time.

    The Chief gets 209,000 WTF I was the one who asked her if she would take a paycut infront of the Community & she said YES a 25% cut. What the, how did it jump to so much. Cut peoples jobs, but you don't cut your wages. Shame on you all, that's all I have to say.

    Some one said to me , The C$C took a 10% cut and that i never talk about that ok so what if they did. You must under stand that due to the pay grid the wages will keep going up.Not just for them but the Band Manager a the CFO. I dont no how much the people that work for Rama a year due to the pay grid. But seeing that its are money i say its gotten out of hand.Its bullshit and it has to stop.
