1. Investing in real estate will not benefit individual community members who may have their own economic plans to improve their own futures. Do you want wealthy community "leaders" telling you how you should spend your money?
2. I don't Chief Sharon Stinson Henry mentioning anything about the "people" deciding for themselves about how the money is spent. This is the worst part. The last thing community members need is more bureaucratic dominance and financial strangleholds that prevent INDIVIDUALS from helping their own families and helping themselves improve their own futures.
3.Sounds to me like politicians pushing their own agendas (in this case real estate deals) with false promises of "economic benefit" to the community.
Get vocal people, take control of your financial future's before these politicians rob you blind...AGAIN!
I absolutely agree, and think about it, community members are asking for financial help not friggin real estate. Just because leadership is sitting on great big mountains of cash they can afford to throw around the idea of buying land, well we the community can't. While we could never attain their enormous bank accounts(unless you won the lottery, which in a way they already have)we have the RIGHT to at least a small portion of it! Leadership just "talks the talk" while we all really "walk the walk". They don't know what it feels like to struggle to pay bills, or not be able to buy your kids something because you just don't have the money right now and have to tell them to wait till next pay and we'll see. I mean I'm not struggling enough to need the food bank but I'm just treading above the water, so any help I could get, just like a lot of people would go a long way. So my message to Leadership is: when it comes down to the vote of what the community wants to do with the Coldwater Trust Money, I WILL be voting to divide it amongst the band members because unlike you, alot of people including myself NEED FINANCIAL HELP not MORE LAND, and if you actually listened, you would and should already know that!!
Theres alot of people i no in the same boat,And more and more that have to use the Food bank if not the one here in Rama, they go to town its a hard thing to have to go and ask for food, And on this first nation that other First Nations envy so we are told by Chief and Council. Picture Rama without the Casino how progressive are we realy?
This stinks for 3 reasons:

ReplyDeletethe question might be "what are we 'progressing' to?" perhaps?
