Think somebody maybe should've told this guy not to wear the bear suit?

Nice. First Nations Day. Less than a week after the bear shooting. Thumbs up buddy.

  1. So true! Was there anyone thinking? Obviously not.

  2. I hope he doesn't mistake himself for a bear..and blow his own head off. Try and come up with a policy for that fiasco.

  3. Seriously, don't you have anything better to do with your time than make comments like those posted above? And are you even sure it was the police that shot the bear. From reading the previous posts no one knows for sure as it states "rumour has it"

  4. I just found out about this, by reading the blog, so I do find it insightful. However, the comments posted above, specifically about "blowing off his own head," are ignorant and uncalled for.

  5. Read all the comments and you will see how upset certain people are. This is not something to be take lightly. The hat the Bear is wearing does say POLICE and it was confirmed that it was Police that shot the Bear so....What do you think? a little lack of insight, poor judgment or communication ....or just a lack of thinking or maybe even caring about tradition ???? I don't think the writer is trying to be ignorant I think they are trying to make a very valid point. Think about it????

  7. Sure everyone has a right to their own opinion but suggesting that he could mistakenly blow his head off is still a rude comment. The first comment made was subtle but clearly indicates how the reader feels, without being rude or ignorant. Not everyone is traditional, so some might think this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. Yes it is unforunate about the bear, but better the bear than a child or anyone for that matter.

  8. yes...it is a strong and allegedly "rude" comment...it's called "irony." A literary tool to make a point:

Is it not ignorant to murder an innocent bear ..when other options could have been sought? Is it also ignorant and senseless to dress up like a bear without thinking about what has happened? THAT is poor taste and just plain LOADED with disrespect toward the bear, and self-disrespect for our uniformed protectors.

So focus on what happened, and how it can be prevented in the future rather than getting sidetracked by reading incomprehension.

  9. To the second last commenter: HE IS EMPLOYED ON A NATIVE RESERVE, HE SHOULD RESPECT AND ACKNOWLEDGE TRADITION OR GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE AND WORK SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE TRADITION IS NOT PART OF LIFE!! The absolute nerve to even suggest your "not everyone is traditional" comment blows my mind(and no pun intended). Not to mention in the very least it was "rude and ignorant" to kill and then mock an innocent bear.
AND FOR THE RECORD NOT ONE PERSON IN RAMA HAS EVER BEEN ATTACKED BY A BEAR, SO FOR THAT MATTER STOP TRYING TO MAKE LIGHT OF AN UNCALLED FOR, INHUMANE, UNPROVOKED, KILLING!

  10. Absolutely I agree! Well said.

  11. good post 2nd last comment.

Odd how people focus on someone's "rude, ignorant" comments when a killing has happened, and mocked thereafter. Now THAT'S ignorant and rude.

    Points to ponder:

    1. What if a "civilian" shot off a gun in that area?

    2. As far as safety..WERE there actually children nearby that needed protection?

    3. If the answer is yes, what message are we sending to them in regards to respecting life?

    4. If the answer is no, I think it's clear what message we are sending, don't you?
